Curran is a service dog in training being sponsored by our office. He’s a Golden Retriever + Labrador mix from Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN), a big-hearted non-profit empowering Indiana inmates to train service dogs. From warning diabetics of dangerously high and low blood sugar levels to providing companionship and support, ICAN brings hope and healing to both families in need and Indiana prisoners. Curran loves to play fetch, run, and earn treats.
While in training, he’ll learn basic commands such as “down,” “sit,” “stay,” and “side,” then move onto more advanced skills like operating light switches, opening doors, retrieving dropped items, and providing balance for his owner. He’ll be matched with an individual or family needing his specific skills and personality traits, and will graduate from ICAN in a special ceremony celebrating both the handlers and his achievements. When he’s not working, Curran enjoys naps, tummy rubs, and spending time with his handlers.
